Motor dealer supports region’s biggest cycling event for 2010
For the fourth consecutive year, Jennings Motor Group has agreed to support one of the UK’s biggest cycling events - the Northern Rock Cyclone Challenge.
The event, scheduled to take place in the summer of 2010, offers a full weekend of cycling events which are suitable for everyone of all ages and ranges in ability from recreational cyclists to World Class Olympic riders.
For the past three consecutive years, Jennings has assisted by supplying a number of support vehicles for a variety of events.
Last year Jennings supported the event by donating a total of eight vehicles from the group’s Ford and Mazda dealerships across the region. The vehicles were filled with fuel and in place for the finale of the weekend, the Beaumont Trophy, which is now a British Cycling Premier Calendar event.
The event witnessed over 140 of the very best cyclists in Britain, some of whom are current Olympic Gold Medallists.
The field also contained the Irish National team and two teams from Holland.
Graeme Armstrong, finance director and company secretary for Jennings Motor Group, who also takes part in the event, said; “We are absolutely delighted to once again, be able to support such a prestigious and successful event, which is now the biggest of its type in England.”
Other events over the course of the weekend included the Newcastle Leazes Criteriums, which took place in Leazes Park, Newcastle, and involved cyclists of all ages covering a course around the park. In addition to a ‘Celebrity Challenge Race’ which involved celebrities such as Steve Cram, Allison Curbishley, and Geoff Thomas participating in the event.
Peter Harrison, Organiser of the Northern Rock Cyclone Challenge, is expecting this year’s event to be another huge success.
“Already we are preparing for this year’s event which we anticipate will be another phenomenal success.”
